Yes, the Skip Tile has a weighted average specific product EPD. By avoiding spray drying, Alusid’s Mas reduces the amount of energy used by approximately 45%. This translates to a 51%* reduction of the amount of CO₂ released and 44% less water used in comparison with the average Spanish produced tile.
*CO₂ and water saving is based on published verified EPD data for GWP-total/WDP (A1-A3 cradle to gate) per m² and is a comparison of weighted average Mas tile range with the average tile from data provided by Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers Association members (ASCER) published in 2024.

Alusid’s process is designed to use significantly less energy than traditional manufacturing, further reducing its environmental impact. Alusid subcontract factories in Spain use solar power where possible, but they do use a lot of energy to fire Alusid products.
Skip Tiles do not require any sealing.
The primary long-term failure point of a floor tile is wear resistance. Mandatory tests confirm that Skip Tile exceed the European Standard requirement for porcelain, which allows a maximum of 175 mm³ of material loss; our tiles show only 162 mm³ of abrasion.
Based on this performance, we classify the lifespan of Skip Tile as 50 years, aligning with the durability of porcelain tiles and and vitrified porcelain tiles, which typically last between 50 and 60 years.
In reality, these tiles could last for centuries. However, longevity depends on usage and conditions—tiles in a residential kitchen will experience significantly different wear than those in a busy train station concourse.
